I think it can be safe to say that a few shake down cruises are in order to test your craft. Go be free. Paddle. Varnish in February when the weather really stinks!

I haven't seen an epoxy coat fade after an entire summer, much less a couple of weeks in the winter.

Good paddling, I envy your almost finished boat.
