Cabinet Scrape drips, sand all very smooth

In Response To: Sanding a Chesapeake hull (John Stys)

I found a cabinet scraper to be great for removing runs since you can precisely remove just the run to the level of the surounding surface (sander tends to take down surrounding area too). I like to epoxy, scrape any drips/runs, then sand entire surface. As someone else mentioned, be careful not to sand into the glass since this can show up as cloudy areas later under varnish.

Do NOT try to save time/effort on this part of the job. The final appearance of your boat will be dramatically improved by a careful and even sanding to 120 grit - any epoxy flaws will be magnified and telegraphed thru the varnish.

Put on some good music and sand away!
