> sheer seem by 1". Is this very necessary? Again this looks very poor. Bob, I have built a couple pygmys. It doesn't look any poorer than whatever level of finish the rest of the boat has. If you use that fancy masking tape 1in. down from the shear and cut the glass after it has gone to the green stage you will have a very straight edge that is easy to sand and fill with a few coats of resin. The slightly greater thickness can be a perfect painted stripe or varnished, either way you want that strength and thickness there, especially if some day your boat gets stacked with a bunch of other boats at the take-out and your not there to watch over it. have fun.
