The beam is 13 feet long from the bow side of form #2 to the stern side of form # 15. I made my stem forms with male plug-ins to slide into the box beam and it worked out great. I was also fortunate enough to have a friend in the non-ferros metal business who gave me a 2" x 4" aluminum box beam. I wasn't sure of how it would work until he stood in the middle of the 20 foot piece (he's about 280 lbs) and the thing didn't deflect at all when supported on the ends. A beam like that retails for a little over $100. Good luck.
