If the queen (wife) comes along (remember I'm a canoe guy, not a true blue yak'er yet), I take her Caravan. If I go by myself or with the kids we take my old Mazda PU truck. The canoe is very heavy so I take the truck whenever I don't have anyone to help me lift it on top. I even built a little roller thing to prop one end of the canoe up on the topper and then just roll it forward.
The van is so the queen can ride in comfort.
