For my North Bay, I made cardboard templates of deckbeams and used them as a guide for plaining the sheer clamps. I ended up with a gap between the deck and the sides, and find that I like it. I filled it with epoxy thickened with wood flour to darken it and it gave me a thin line along each side that resembles like a stripe.
