I used standard bicycle cable housing purchased by the foot at a local bike shop. it's reinforced with coiled metal and covered with a black plastic that makes a very professional look. I then ran 1/16" aircraft cable that had been thoroughly rubbed with beeswax for water resistance. I have had a little trouble with the first set of cables (done without the beeswax) rusting inside the housing. This caused the cable to bond permanently with the housing and i had to replace the whole thing. So far the beeswax has prevented this from recurring.
