Hi Dave,
Have you looked through the stack of lumber? I have 2 1x4's I just finished glueing up with epoxy (Douglass fir from Home Depot). When I looked, one was quarter-sawn and the other wasn't. I didn't know they needed to be quarter-sawn. Let's hope it still works!
My problem was finding 2x4's made out of anything but pine so I decided to make my own 8^)
If this works out I may make another one out of cedar if I can find it. The fir is rather blah looking.
