Ron, I am also interested in any information about the west river series but I think this was brought up in the past and there was no response so I assume no one builds these designs for whatever reason ?? What is the second generation series, when did they come out and what were thw changes? As far as the paint vs bright finish, I understand that most S&G boats that are built from a kit with computer milled panels, end up bright finished and most boats built from plans end up painted. The computer milled panels are so perfect that the fit leaves very little or at least a uniform gap a the seams which is filled then finished but when you have to lay out the shape from offsets and then cut by hand, the accuracy is not the same and the filling will be be more or not uniform which would not look good unless painted. Of course there are exceptions to this theory and it depends how fine a craftsman you are. There is my 2 cents
