Loosen slightly, go to one end of the slot or the other to fit the vehicle, tighten, Shazam! Rounding the cross-bar to tear-drop shape to improve airflow will be good practice for making paddles. Can even do some varnish testing, since the cross bars will be in the sunlight quite a bit. Well, boat spot less sunlight than the ends, for comparison. Brackets with keel and chine braces probably adequate support, and less wind resistance than athwart or crosswise cradles. Rather than 3/8" wing nuts, I'll use elastic stop-nuts and dedicated wrenches to adjust the width, more reliable for 55 mph travel. TNX, Scotty
