The extra volume in the bow should keep it from burying as much in waves. I was paddling downwind with a senior BCU coach at our symposium last year and commented that my bow kept getting stuck in the wave in front while his rode smoothly over. He said that if the waves were any bigger, my bow would catch good and I would be flipped end for end. If you stick to flat water, the above wouldn't apply.

As to footroom, keep an eye on it. I moved my forward deck beam forward to enlarge the cockpit (bad idea) and as a result increased my footroom a little bit. I have JUST enough room for my size 11-12 feet. Do some measuring and make sure there is enough room; even in a boat, if your feet aren't happy you won't be either.
