Hi David,

I can remember being a part of that discussion, I was thinking of using copper pipe, flaired at the ends with a plumbers flairing tool. The only reason, is that I think it will look nice. I don't know if it will protect the end grain any more than plain old epoxy, actually if the tube wasn't glued in well it could actually trap water against the end grain, this could be bad.

I myself am going with the tube. I figure it'd be easier to replace the tube if it gets worn (by rope and sand), than it would be to mend a big ugly hole in my boat.
