An excellent book on the subject is "Wood and Canvas Kayak Building" by George Putz*, available from Amazon.com for about 16 bucks. I got mine from Barnes and Noble, Got a chance to peruse first. There are two boats featured, derived from old design, all aspects of building, from design to paint are covered in a very readable, humorous style. *as opposed to George, the putz, whom you will meet eventually on this board. Heed what he says!!
