Wood Kayaks in SF Bay Area?

First, I love this site. Ever since I started thinking/dreaming about building a kayak, I've found the information on this site quite stimulating. Thanks Nick!

I am looking for people in the greater San Francisco Bay area that have wood kayaks they've built. I am trying to select the boat I want to build, however, I would really, really like to paddle a few different designs before I start building. I'd also be very interested in seeing some boats under construction - anyone want to show off their project???

Due to the time commitments involved with Strip built boats, I am probably going to go with the plywood stitch and glue approach.

Ideally I'd like to get a few people together for a paddle on the bay or perhaps Tomales Bay, Drakes Bay or Monterey bay. We could then try out each other's boats and pay homage to those brave souls who build their own!

I live in Walnut Creek (SF east bay).

Thanks in advance and take care,

Peter

PS I am planning on joining BASK (Bay Area Sea Kayakers) so I may be able to connect with some people that way.
