> Shawn Hi, I made flush deck fittings for my guillemot and to keep them from holding to much water I drilled a 3/8" deep hole with a 2" fostner bit into a piece of walnut then ripped the wood down the center of the hole giving me two half moon cut outs. I then glued on a flat piece of wood over the half circle. I then drilled a 1/4 inch hole near the top and inserted a 1/4" walnut dowel. All that was left to do was cut out a rectangular hole the width of one of my design stripes in the deck (3/4") cut the fitting to go into the rectangle with a shoulder rabbitted onto it and then epoxy it into the deck. The half moon shape of the hole in the deck fitting lets it drain much easier than a hole with verticle sides, just rock the boat a little side to side or front to back most of the water should run out.
