Hello, I've recently 'glassed the hull of my under construction CLC Ches 17. It went on nicely and I intend to varnish, rather than paint, the hull. I initially wetted out the glass using a plastic squeegee/spreader, got it nice and smooth. Applied the subsequent coats of epoxy using a foam roller as recommended by CLC. Problem is I've applied 4 full coats and a couple of additions in spots and I'm still seeing some weave in areas.
Is this the "telegraphing" effect I read about in a different post? Does this "telegraphing" mean that the epoxy is simply tracing the contour of the surface beneath, rather than filling it in?
Will the coats of varnish later on fill anything in or do I need to apply that to an already smooth surface?
Also, I applied an extra strip of glass tape along the keel line for abrasion resistance. One edge of the tape is rather obtrusive. Should I try to feather the edge by sanding or will that just mess up the transparency of the glass?
Thanks in advance for your help.
