Upon further contemplation this is really what I'm after. I think I'll stick with the Chesapeake hatches as designed by CLC. I would like to explore adding one of these day hatches behind the cockpit. They seem to me to be a very nice feature.

Do these things open up to the kayak below? Facilitating the need for an additional bulkhead? Or do they come self contained, like a big capsule?
