Roger, I am building a CLC boat with cold cure, one thing to consider is that when you coat a textured surface like fiberglass the subsequent coats are following the contours of the weave as well as filling in the depressions of the weave,so while there may still be an impression of the weave after 2 or 3 coats the surface of the weave has that many coats. You can sand lightly after 2 or 3 coats, being careful to check that you are not cutting into any glass, then recoat, and sand again before varnishing. I have found that the challange in finishing is putting on finishing coats of resin evenly then sanding evenly. Restraint seems to work better than "more is better" I'm not sure, but telegraphing is when the pattern of the glass shows through long after a hull is finished or in the case of molded boats after is has left the mold, painted etc.
