Hi Roger,
There was a thread named "Planing sheers on Ches 17'" that started on Jan 8. It's still on the bbs if you set preferences to show messages posted within the last month. Stan Heeres used a method which involved "clamping" with screws, then removing them. That might give you the result you're after.
