When working on my hard chine boat I found that by sanding into the fillet a little bit, I was able to round off the area where the side panels meet the bottom panels. I like the look and feel produced by rounding off that area, but am wondering how it will effect the hull design? Looking at several plastic and glass kayaks, I noted that the sides were rounded also.
I am trying to decide what to do with the keel. Toward the center I have tried to round it a bit, but on the front and stern I have built up wood filled epoxy in an attempt to knife the ends a little.
Would like some feedback prior to glassing the hull. Although I made alot of sanding for myself, I really like the smoothness that comes with rounding the hull...not much, but enough to get a nice flow.
Thank you for the feedback and boy! That Pawtuxent modification posting really took off!
