dave, what you are doing makes sense to me. I tend to round off and paint the ends of a boat for safety reasons, sharp ends just don't seem safe to me. I think the keel line at the bow and stern can be as rounded as you want as long as the fillet isn't the main part of the hull bottom. Making a few test panels with chine fillets then bust em up. You will get a useful set of data to work with. I ended up tying a tennis ball on the bow of my last kit because it was too sharp. Makes it easy to stand the boat on end for whatever reason,good conversation piece? boat bra. didn't exactly answer your particular question, but these basic questions sure provide an interesting forum.
