dave, what you are doing makes sense to me. I tend to round off and paint the ends of a boat for safety reasons, sharp ends just don't seem safe to me. I think the keel line at the bow and stern can be as rounded as you want as long as the fillet isn't the main part of the hull bottom. Making a few test panels with chine fillets then bust em up. You will get a useful set of data to work with. I ended up tying a tennis ball on the bow of my last kit because it was too sharp.
