I do everything that I can to the inside of a boat before I put the deck on. Sand and varnish locate the foot braces and predrill the holes, though I leave the braces off untill I am outfitting the boat. If you are going to use a footpump you will need to add some support to the forward bulkhead before the deck goes on. Have fun.
