> one other thing i did with the nailing jig was to drive a small brad partially thru the top piece far enough from the edge of the top and bottom pieces so that it can be used as a scribe to mark off a trim line on the overhang. Just slide the jig along the deck after it is nailed down. Position the brad as close to the bottom edge as you feel confident you can saw true to. I used about a 1/4 inch offset and then just plane and rasp off the amount.
