dan,the only modification I can think of that will help comfort is to make sure that you are properly outfitted, everybody's different as to what tolerable discomfort. my two bits, carve a 18in x 3in.minicell seat that will fit between the hip plates, carve it for good thigh support,and behind the tailbone support. developing good postural muscles will help as much as a good back band. getting support around the hips,butt,and thighs works better than just getting cushion under the sit-bones.
