It takes more than a little force to hold the deck in position while the epoxy sets. I'd be careful of any solution that gives up holding power, especially now that, I think, CLC is using 4mm decks in some cases. (they used to use 3mm)
Personally, I would use nails, not staples, but if I did use staples I'd be sure to use stainless ones.
