I have decided to paint the hull of my Pygmy Coho and am trying to fair out the defects in the hull. On other projects I have used Bondo (above the waterline applications) and I was pleased with how it worked. However, on this project I have succumbed to recommendations on this board to not use Bondo because it is not waterproof.
On this hull I have tried to use epoxy mixed with West System 410 Microlight Fairing Filler, but have not been happy with the result. It has not gone on smoothly at all. It tends to drag and leave a pitted surface when I spread it on. I can't spread it to as nice an edge as I could with Bondo.
What do other people that have not finished their boats bright used to fair the hull?
Thanks, Ralph
