To get the most benifit from micro, you need to have a very dry mixture. I suspect that most people use a mixture that is too wet. You'll know you are close to the right consistancy when the micro starts to climb up the mixing stick and refuses to stay in the pot!

However working with a dry mixture is truly a pain in the passage. You have to work it very slowly. I mean very slowly. Try to move your spatula at a rate of about 1mm per second and you should be able to get a reasonably smooth surface. It also helps to put/squish on the micro and let it sit for 20 seconds. This gives some of the epoxy time to wet out the surface and help with adhesion. It takes time but with patience it will work.

Something I've starting using lately as a spatula is the new credit card hotel room keys. These have just the right amount of flex and work quite nicely.
