Hi Lew,
I used a jigsaw to cut my hatches. I did it just like Ed describes, but added a little tape to the base of the saw to keep it from beating the heck out of the epoxy if it catches.
I can't cut very straight by hand, but the jig saw worked fine, and I was able to use a file to make the edges even more true after cutting.
I'll be launching from Leesylvania State Park this Saturday (I just finished sending you an email) if you want to come along or just pop out to take a look at my hatches.
