Hi Dan,
You might as well join the ends for the stern now and just lay out the pieces full-sized and not have to worry about aligning a precisely-cut piece. It will be easier to keep everything fair if you do all your layout on a full-sized piece and then do the cutting. Your instinct was right, IMHO :) Shawn
