Like a few other people I had read Kayak Shop first, it's what got me interested. I had read it a few times so I had a pretty good idea of the process in my head before I ordered the plans. I have found that I seem to be using the generic book more than the specific book. (ie Stitch and Glue Construction more than Chesapeake Instructions) I start by looking in the Ches. Book to find out WHAT I have to do next, then I go to S.A.G.C. to see HOW to do it. If I'm not sure of sizes etc. I look to the plans and Kayak Shop as well. I'm guessing most people have a screw up or two, even though you try to make everything perfect! eg. I somehow measured my sheer clamps, realized I needed to trim 5" from the length and then proceeded, somehow, to trim it off both ends and then glue it to the panels before realizing!
