Pedro,

I can squeeze the pump with my hand fairly easily. I also squeezed my bathroom scale to what I thought was the same pressure and came up with 25-30 lbs. Of course I didn't have any water in it so I don't know if that will make a difference. Compressing the pump was no problem with the ball of my foot and only slightly uncomfortable with my arch (worst case scenario). The inlet and outlet have flapper valves and are about 3/4" inside diameter.

Looking at the Guzzler web site I'm not sure that the spring is an option but I didn't ask either. The people that answered my questions were very knowledgeable. I'd call and ask what the compression strength of the spring is. There phone number is 800-377-2724, or if you're in RI 401-438-1110. I'll add the web site for those on the fringe. No I'm not connected with them in any way.

Another thought: If the spring were "just right" wouldn't that make the flow almost zero. It seems to me that a stronger spring gives higher water flow rate. This sounds better when pumping out a boat as long as the spring isn't so strong that it affects how fast you can compress it. Disclaimer: I have no experience pumping out a boat.

Thanks for your final wish. I hope I never have to use it either, but I suspect that I will. I have never been kind to my toys.

Happy Boatbuilding

John
