Before I began my CLC North Bay, several CLC kayak builder/paddlers indicated that they felt that typical CLC deck designs were not supported as much as they felt they should be. With this in mind, I've probably severely over-engineered mine --- extra frames, extra deck beams, especially under the after deck, which in the North Bay is much lower and flatter than most CLC boats --- but I'm generally comfortable with my over-building. The question is, have any CLC kayak-builders who have followed or come close to following the design ever had any problems with deck softness?
