Hi,
I have just finished putting the deckbeams onto my Ches 17'. I was looking at it for a while and thinking about the sheer clamps. I glued them proud a 1/4" or whatever the plans show, but when I look at the deckbeams it really doesn't look like the clamps stick up enough to fully plane to the radius of the deck. I'm not sure if I'm being clear, but it looks like, when I plane, only the outer part of the sheer clamp will assume the radius of the deck, and the inner part will remain flat, as it is now, because it is not high enough. If I wanted the radius to be on the whole width of the sheer clamp, I think I will have to sand into the top of the side panels a little.
Is this bad? Should I go into the side panels a little, or should I plane only the outer parts of the sheer clamps and end up with a narrow gluing surface?
Thanks in advance
Paul
