Uh, Brian, I think this story is an Urban Legend. (Although, with the frequency warnings like this are distributed, I wouldn't be surprised if some wacko actually got the idea to try it)
Just this weekend, my brother-in-law warned me about the "gang initiation" where a car drives down the road with its lights off. If you flash your beams at them, they shoot you.
These urban legends usually contain some pretty horrible subject material, and you could feel really guilty if you don't pass on the warning, but the warning itself usually originates as a prank.
It's sick and wrong that someone would consider putting an infected needle on someone's seat. It's also sick and wrong to make up a bogus warning to scare someone about it. (Not saying that you're wrong to want to warn us about what you thought was a legitimate risk, though! Thanks)
