I am considering building the CLC Patuxent 19.5 from a kit and trying to gather all possible information about this kayak. I don't think that I have any chances to paddle one first. Any Patuxent in Colorado or vicinity?

It seems that construction is relatively easy and several people are in the process of building one. I would appreciate any comments on paddling this kayak in different conditions.

I am planning mostly day paddling in lakes of Colorado and southwest, and perhaps short overnight expeditions. I am not thinking about superlight construction or racing option. I am rather concerned whether I should build it somewhat stronger than a standard kit (deck?).

My paddling experience comes mostly from folding kayaks. Currently, I own and paddle Feathercraft K-1. So, the Patuxent would be something very different.
