Hi!
I feel much calmer today. First I would like to thank Nick, Peter and Paul for their very helpful comments posted in response to my original query. I would also like to thank Shawn Baker for his private e-mail.
Here is what I did. Yesterday was the first warm and sunny day in the Puget Sound region in about 10 months so I took the kayak upstairs into the yard. Let is sit baking for a few hours. Then using a scraper and later vinegar soaked paper towels removed most of the mess. Left things to dry a little more then returned with the sander and fired that puppy up. After about 30 minutes of sanding had the affected areas removed and cleaned up. This turned out to be a relatively small section of about two feet hull to deck joint. I have since loosened the brass 3/4 nails that tacked that section of the deck down and injected more epoxy. Things are looking much better now. So here is the next question.
I have about a quart of MAS Epoxy left, the hardener is fine but the resin is starting to look cloudy after about 9 months. Is it still usable? I know I should have asked before continuing work, but hey I was on a roll. I mixed it up and everything seemed fine. I guess I will know soon enough. The kayak is once again sitting in the living room, underneath its sister-ship and my wife is making comments about the workshop taking over the rest of the house. I simply point at all her pets taking over my workshop.
Once again thanks for all the help and suggestions.
