I have assembled the hull of my Chesapeake 17' kit. The interior of the chines are filleted and the cockpit is fiberglassed. The open wood inside the hull is coated with epoxy. Now, I've snipped the copper wires and ground them a little below the surface with my Dremel. I sanded the whole hull (has anyone noticed how similar what you empty out of your sander's bag is to $6 a quart wood flour?) to prepare it for 'glassing.
Tonight I will fill the seams and wire holes with thickened epoxy and after it has cured I will sand the chines again. My question (finally) is - how much is 'a generous radius'? Do I just want to round them over enough to help the fiberglass make the turn? Or, do I want to really soften the look of those edges? Should I be getting down into the middle and lower plys?
