I have a friend with an open top boat who uses a side mounted skeg with good results. It is easy to deploy, takes no room out of the boat storage space, and has some separation from the fluid flow around the hull of the boat (less drag???)

Has anyone tried this with a kayak? I'm finishing my boat up in a week or so and am tempted to experiement with it. Any comments and/or experience appreciated.
