I used System Three on my first boat, a Cosine Wherry. It's a good product. Any of thier hardeners will be compatible with each other. They even told me whemn I spoke to them before ordering that different brands of epoxy will stick to each other if the first coat is completely cured and sanded, for a mechanical bond. This is not an area I'd care to experiment in.

I tried West and didnt like the 5:1 ratio, or its fumes. I was used to 2:1 and the other fumes, which are just as bad. I then tried MAS and have been using it since, on three more boats. It take longer to cure but I like working with it. I think the S-3 "clear coat" is similar to MAS but have not used it. RAKA is also a good brand I've heard, and less expensive.

As to cloth, others might have better advise but heres my experience: I used 6oz on all but the latest project when I tried RAKA 4oz. The 6oz is quite a bit easier to work with, and I will go back to it. It's easier to wet out, and easier to work bubble sout of the wider weave. 6oz will weigh a little more but I'm not so sure even of that.
