I remember seeing somewhere that someone (specific, ain't I?) did this for a seat and they said that it was uncomfortable. I don't remember why, but they said that a less custom-fit seat was more comfortable for long periods.

That being said, my darn legs fall asleep from my somewhat posteriorially carved foam seat, probably because of a lack of thigh support. Your seat construction definitely sounds like it's worth a try. Do you ever have problems with leg/feet numbness/tingling? How long is it comfortable to sit in your boat? Did you use some 1/4" minicell or anything for a tiny bit of padding on the seat?
