If you were building a wooden boat with "cheekplates" you could just fair some glass from the top of the seat right into the cheekplate and put a little foam on the cheekplates for your hips.

By the way, Ross Leidy used PVA mold release from West Marine. If your foam seat isn't hard enough, you could cover it with a layer of glass and then fill the weave in. Then, wax this surface.

I looked at West's online catalog and all I could find was PVA Curing Agent. Under the Miscellaneous section of the Maintenance area. Dunno if that's the same stuff or not...
