There has been so much discussion about flush hatches I thought I would post a picture of my attempt at no-leak hatches. There are latches on either side of the hatch consisting of a nylon bolt, nut and spacer, a knob on the outside of the hatch and a wooden tab on the inside. The tabs are first turned towards the centerline of the kayak. The hatches are put on the kayak and the tabs rotated 180 degrees. Pull on the knob to lock the tabs against the hatch lip and tighten the hatches home. The only problem may be spray in the face because the knobs are not flush with the deck. I am less worried that I am going to lose a hatch because of wind, especially at highway speeds.
