What I mean is your body does not like to hold a single position without moving around. You need to be able to redistribute the load to different areas, allow blood flow to change, move joints, etc to be able to stay comfortable. That's not to say sitting on a board is therefore comfortable. It's not either. For the board allows you to move around, but it doesn't distribute load well, and tends to keep it very localized and therefore high.

Tight fit could by all means cause numbness. Pressure cuts blood flow and if it presses on a nerve reduces sensation and control. I don't know the lay of nerves in the body, so I can't make any particular suggestions about areas that are more prone to this then others. It often times does not take much pressure to cause gradual numbness. Especially if the pressure is never relieved.

However an improper position can cause numbness as well, without pressure. Carpil tunnel syndrom is a good example. So's a lot of back problems. A back bent wrist for numb hands, and slouching for an aching back. So if you're got something similar going in your seated position, that could cause numbness as well.
