Just think of this as practice in your repair technique. You get to feather the edge of the repair, fill in the low areas with a filler, feather the edged on the overhanging filler, and then sand, and sand before painting. Same technique for a wall as a kayak, but you use spackle, drywall tape and drywall 'mud' instead of glass cloth and epoxy resin.

Either way you do a lot of sanding and the dust can make you sick.

If you thought you were finished with that squeegee from your epoxy you'll be able to put it back into service for the plastering repairs. And of course you still have plenty of extra sandpaper left, right?
