I know you've finished this step, but I used wire i.e. stitch and glue to put the deck on. First I wired the deck in place them glued it using epoxy in a syringe on the end of a long stick. The next day I removed the wires. when putting the tape in I wetted the inside seam of the boat with thickened epoxy, then rolled the tape into it. I then brushed a little more epoxy into the tape where it did not wet out well.
