A good discussion about small boat trailers appears below- this post continues that with a question. I also am looking for a trailer- for my 'Instant Boat' Surf, also canoes. I'm new to this game. I'm intrigued by the utility trailer idea, being able to get multi-use out of it. Is the length of the boat vs. the length of the trailer very important, i.e., is there a problem with carrying a 15' very lightweight boat on a trailer several feet shorter? Trailer dealers I've visited always want to sell me a huge, long trailer for my lightweight wooden boats. Seems like overkill, also high $. Might there be laws about overhang on trailers, or an issue of centering the boat lengthwise over the axle?
