I glassed the under side of my Guillemot 17's deck today and have just decided that I probably won't need air bags as there are enough air bubbles to keep the boat afloat. Actually, it isn't that bad, there are about a dozen fingernail sized bubbles, all on seams between strips. They weren't there an hour ago so they seem to be outgassing from where I didn't fully fill a crack or a staple hole. I also have a lot around the coaming where I couldn't get it to lie down no matter what I tried. I didn't get any of these bubbles when I did the outside and inside of the hull or the outside of the deck.
I know that I have to fix the coaming area and I will cut and sand tomorrow and put some new chunks of glass on. My question concerns whether I need to cut and fill all of the other bubbles or can I leave them? Will they allow water to get to the wood? Since they are on the underside of the deck I am not concerned with appearance.
Thanks, John
