Folks:
Hi! I'm writing you from Buenos Aires, Argentina (South America). I've bought Nick's book and I am hooked with the design of the Guillemot.
I would like to build this kayak but I've got a little problem: I live in a first floor apartment. I've got no other place to build the boat, so I will use my balcony as my workshop.
More problems? You've got it! My balcony doesn't face the street, so the only way I have to bring the boat back to the street is through a "U" shaped staircase!
I've built a cardboard model and I've realized that the maximum length of the kayak in order to ease it down from the first floor to the street is 10 feet.
So, I've got the offsets of the Guillemot buy I have to redefine the distances between each one of then in order to get a full 10 feet boat.
Here are my questions:
a) Should I keep the original distances in the center (copckit area) of the boat and reduce them proportionally in both of the extremes?
b) Would I get the minimum displacement needed to float?? Should I have to widen the boat? I'm 6 feet, 140 lbs.
Thank you very much and excuse my english!
Regards
