The wood you are building with forms a filler or spacer between your layers of glass. The strength of the boat comes from two layers of glass supported by "something" fairly rigid....wood.(Lots of boats are foam composites and the foam ain't as strong as wood!!!)
The boat will look great, and be stronger than heck!
