Bugs get brushed out very quickly, and their nests and egg sacks don't adhere to the varnished resin finish. Besides, you pick up more bugs in an hour paddling on a river (going under those overhanging branches) than you'll get in a month of storage.
For the last few years I've jsut covered my boats with cheap blue polyethlene plastic tarps, and used rocks at the corners to keep them in place. the tarps last about a year, but they are pretty cheap to replace.
I suppose you could get a tarp, fold it in half, and seal the edges with duct tape to make a long, baggy envelope you could slide the boat into. You can make the seams nearly airtight if you double fold the material before you put on the duct tape. I'd seal one short edge and the long edge, leaving the other short edge open. After inserting the boat I'd double fold the remaining edge and use plastic clamps to keep it shut. The plastic clamps are nothing more than short sections of PVC pipe with a slit cut in them. Pry them open a bit to set them on the folded edge of the tarp/envelope, or just slide them on from one end.
while you can store your boat in a tightly sealed container like this, I'm not sure it is such a good idea. I'm thinking that leaving such a package in the sun would turn it into an oven, and any trapped moisture would turn this into a steambath. Just draping a tarp over things leaves plenty of opportunity for air to circulate and keep things cool.
Just my opinions here. Hope this helps
